Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

Before submitting your manuscript to the Journal of Diabesity, please ensure the following items are completed:

  • Manuscript is written in clear, professional English.

  • Title is concise and reflects the study.

  • Abstract (250–300 words) is structured (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion).

  • Keywords (3–6) are included below the abstract.

  • Main text follows journal structure:

    • Results

    • Discussion

    • Conclusion

  • All abbreviations are defined upon first use.

  • References are cited in Vancouver style or [Insert preferred format].

  • Main manuscript file (Word format, .doc or .docx).

  • Separate title page with:

    • Full title of the article

    • Author names, affiliations, and ORCID IDs

    • Corresponding author contact information

  • Figures and tables are placed at the end of the manuscript or uploaded separately.

  • Figures are in high-resolution (JPEG, PNG, or TIFF formats).

  • Tables are editable (not pasted as images).

Original Research Articles

Publishes novel clinical, translational, or basic science research related to diabetes, obesity, or their intersection (diabesity).

Section Policy:

  • Peer-reviewed

  • Double-blind review

  • Word count: up to 4,000 words (excluding references)

  • Structured abstract (250–300 words)

  • Includes: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion

  • Must include ethical approval for human/animal studies

Review Articles

Description:
Covers systematic, scoping, or narrative reviews on key topics in diabesity, metabolic syndrome, endocrinology, lifestyle medicine, or public health.

Section Policy:

  • Peer-reviewed

  • Double-blind review

  • Word count: up to 6,000 words

  • Structured or unstructured abstract

  • Preferred adherence to PRISMA guidelines for systematic reviews

  • Must clearly state methodology for literature search

Case Reports

Description:
Presents unique or instructive clinical cases related to diabetes, obesity, MASH, bariatric outcomes, or complications.

Section Policy:

  • Peer-reviewed

  • Single-blind review

  • Word count: up to 2,000 words

  • Structured abstract: Background, Case Presentation, Discussion

  • Patient consent must be obtained and documented

  • Must include key learning points or clinical relevance

Letters to the Editor

Description:
Constructive feedback or scholarly commentary on articles published in the journal or on relevant scientific topics.

Section Policy:

  • Editorial review

  • Word count: up to 800 words

  • No abstract

  • Max 5 references and 1 table/figure

  • May include a brief reply from the original author(s)

The Journal of Diabesity (JoD) is a peer-reviewed, open-access medical journal dedicated to advancing research and clinical knowledge on the overlapping challenges of type 2 diabetes and obesity. As an independent, academic-led platform, JoD is supported by a global team of clinicians, researchers, and public health experts.

We publish original research, review articles, case reports, and expert commentaries in the fields of endocrinology, metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, and diabesity. Our mission is to provide a trusted, evidence-based forum to guide the prevention, management, and reversal of the diabesity epidemic.
